Originally from Rosario, Argentina Gonzalo started sailing Optis at age 9 winning the 1986 Team Racing Nationals. After Optis he sailed Cadets and then Snipes. In 1992, he represented Argentina at the Snipe Junior Worlds where he finished 5th after an unfortunate OCS that costed him the regatta.
He continued sailing Snipes and big boats until he moved to Miami in 2001. There he coached 420’s for Coral Reef Yacht Club and also Ransom Everglades part time. In 2007, he became Co-Ed Head Sailing Coach at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg. In 2012, Ransom Everglades hired him back as Waterfront Director and Head Sailing Coach, a position he held until 2016. Gonzalo was also instrumental in bringing back the sailing program at Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, which had been dormant for many years.
He has lived in Italy and Spain for the past few years with his wife and son. The family had just embarked on a great cross Europe adventure in their RV when the pandemic changed their plans and (lucky for us) brought them to PBSC.
