Bridget Baker hails from a multigenerational sailing family. Like her father, and grandfather before her, she is an alumna of a youth sailing program and attributes much of her success to the life lessons learned sailing. She feels so strongly about sailing her children are also alumni of youth sailing programs. “Youth sailing is, I think, one of the best things you can do to prepare children to be successful in the world today,” Bridget says. “Sailing is a sport that incorporates team building, problem solving and adapting for external forces. Weather, competition and constant course correction are essential to the successful finish of a sailboat race. This is not unlike business today, where market drivers, competitors and product selection are all factors to the success of a business. Working as a team, deftly handling forces out of your control and constantly adapting to the changing markets make for a successful company. These skills directly translate from sailing.”
Bridget is the founder and president of Telcom Innovations Group. She is an accomplished CEO and serial entrepreneur with over three decades of experience. Bridget has a wealth of knowledge in driving growth, technology and business sustainability for technology and financial services companies. Bridget is an experienced speaker on the topics of business, technology and inspiration. She has current and prior board experience and most recently served as the vice president of the University Club of Chicago. She has served on their board and committees for the past six years. She also serves on advisory boards for several private companies. Bridget is still an avid sailor and owns a Catalina 42 sailboat out of Belmont Harbor (Chicago) which she hopes to bring to a Florida later this year.
