Hillary Oswald

Sue Slater

Sue Slater grew up in the Chicago area sailing Sunfish in the summers on Lake Michigan. Moved to the West Palm Beach area in 1982. Nico Barbero

Director

Nico Barbero is the Head Coach of Youth Sailing at the Palm Beach Sailing Club. He brings his extensive coaching experience – Argentinian national team for Optimist North Americans (2020), Orange Bowl Regatta (2019), WS Youth Sailing Championships (2020)– among others. His knowledge of youth sailing will bring valuable insight to our Foundation.

Meg Palumbo

Director

Born and raised on the shores of Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, Meg first moved to Florida to attend the University of Miami.  After graduating she moved back to Newport, RI, where sailing is a part of life.  In 2013, a job promotion for her husband brought them back to Florida and to Palm Beach

Mission Statement

The Youth Sailing Foundation of the Palm Beaches will promote the sport of sailing for young people within our communities to provide educational and character building opportunities that youth sailing programs are uniquely able to provide such as confidence, self-reliance, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, respect, ethical behavior and environmental awareness. The Youth Sailing Foundation of the Palm Beaches was created to build a sustainable sailing infrastructure working with existing sailing and youth programs in our community. The Foundation is led and administered by a group of volunteers.
